FAQ
What is 1Password for Agents?
A platform 1Password announced on 22 October 2026 for the case where an AI agent needs to sign in to get work done: credentials stay inside 1Password, and the agent can only complete a login after you approve it, without ever seeing or storing the password, secret or one-time code.
How exactly does it keep the password away from the agent?
The agent identifies itself to 1Password with a unique digital key, you approve the request on your own device, and 1Password then fills the credential straight into the target sign-in form. The credential travels from the vault to the browser without passing through the agent or the model.
Which agents are supported today?
1Password lists Meta Muse, Anthropic's Claude Duet, OpenAI's ChatGPT Work and dots, Grok Bot and Town Townie. Muse and Grok Bot are rolling out, while Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work, dots and Town are marked as coming soon. Browserbase, Browser Use, Dana, Instinct, KERNEL, Perplexity, Ramp, Tomo and Wajo are queued behind them.
Does it cost extra?
1Password says 1Password for Agents is currently available at no additional cost for Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com. Accounts on 1Password.eu and 1Password.ca are not supported yet, and availability varies by partner integration.
Does this make agents fully safe?
No. As Engadget noted, keeping the password secret does not stop an agent from ordering the wrong product or booking the wrong trip, and those actions may not be cancellable. Credentials are one layer; you still need permission boundaries on what the agent is allowed to execute.
