FAQ
What is AI Dataset Size Calculator?
An online AI dataset planning tool. It estimates storage space, token count and processing cost for AI training datasets, supporting text, image, audio and video. Input: data type, sample count and size parameters. Output: storage, token count and cost estimates with one-click copy and download. Everything runs in your browser — no uploads.
How is the token count estimated?
Based on measured tokenizer density: roughly 0.75 tokens per English word, 1.5-2 tokens per Chinese character, and 1 token per 2-3 characters of code. Slight variations exist across models.
Which data types are supported?
Text, images (JPG/PNG/WEBP), audio (MP3/WAV) and video (MP4/MOV), including mixed multi-modal datasets.
Can it estimate training cost?
Yes. Based on sample count and total tokens, it estimates preprocessing, cleaning and labeling costs on mainstream cloud GPUs to support your data budget.
Does data augmentation change the estimate?
Yes. With augmentation enabled, the calculator scales storage and token estimates by the configured augmentation factor for resource planning.
Can I save the results?
Yes. Export dataset planning reports as CSV or PDF for team review and budget requests.
