  • ✓ Off by default; you pick which apps Gemini may reach in Gemini settings and can switch it off any time
  • ✓ Limited to personal Google accounts for users 18 and older; Workspace business, enterprise and education accounts are excluded entirely
  • ✓ Not available in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK or Nigeria for now
  • ✓ Cars with Google built-in follow in the coming months, and only give personalised answers while your phone is connected

How to Use

  1. Open the Gemini app on your phone and go to Personal Intelligence in settings
  2. Enable only the apps you actually want Gemini to read, such as Gmail, Calendar, Photos and Maps
  3. Connect the phone to Android Auto and ask something that needs personal context, like a calendar entry or flight
  4. Turn it off from the same settings page, or disconnect a single app, when you no longer want it

FAQ

Can I use Personal Intelligence in the car now?

Yes. Google's official blog says Personal Intelligence started rolling out on Android Auto from 20 October 2026, with cars that have Google built-in following over the coming months.

Does it read my email on its own?

No. It is off by default; you have to turn it on in Gemini settings and choose each app it may access. Without it, navigation, music, calls and ordinary questions work exactly as before, just without personal context.

Who cannot use it?

Three groups: Workspace business, enterprise and education accounts are excluded entirely; the EEA, Switzerland, the UK and Nigeria are not supported yet; and accounts under 18 are out as well.

Why are some European countries excluded?

Google's blog only states those regions are not supported yet and gives no reason. Based on what is public, it looks like a staged compliance and data-processing rollout rather than a capability gap, so watch for Google's follow-up.

Is my personal data used to train models?

Google says personal context stays in its secure infrastructure and is not used to train foundational AI models. That is the vendor's statement; the real boundary depends on which apps you connect and each product's privacy terms, so connect only what you need.
