Ideogram Vector 1.0: Vector Output, Not Pixels

Released 22 October 2026, Ideogram's first vector model turns a prompt into clean SVG or converts an existing image into vectors — individual shapes, colours and gradients stay editable in Illustrator or Figma, with API pricing from $0.13 per SVG

Tool Interface

Interactive tool will be available soon

Features

  • ✓ Two entry points: text-to-vector from a prompt, and image-to-vector that takes an existing picture with no prompt at all
  • ✓ Real SVG, not fake vectors: every shape can be selected and recoloured individually, gradients follow the palette, and edges stay crisp at any scale
  • ✓ It handles typography: Ideogram leans on its text-rendering strength, drawing wordmarks, hand lettering and labels as clean shapes — which is why logos and print work are on the menu
  • ✓ It fits existing workflows: output stays editable in vector editors such as Illustrator or Figma and is ready for print, merch and the web
  • ✓ There is a documented API with published pricing: separate endpoints for text-to-vector and image-to-vector, billed per SVG with low, medium and high quality tiers

How to Use

  1. Pick the right path first: text-to-vector for new designs, image-to-vector when you already have a bitmap — the latter needs no prompt
  2. Be explicit about composition, palette and the exact words that must appear; text accuracy is where vector models usually break, so proofread character by character
  3. After exporting, recolour to your brand palette in Illustrator or Figma and merge or delete surplus shapes — generated vectors often carry more nodes than you expect
  4. For volume, move to the API: start on the low quality tier to check output, then upgrade tiers as needed instead of burning the expensive one from day one

FAQ

What is Ideogram Vector 1.0?

Ideogram's first vector model, released on 22 October 2026. It generates clean, editable SVG from a prompt, turns any image into a scalable vector, and ships output with smooth gradients and sharp typography where individual shapes and colours stay editable. How is this different from ordinary text-to-image?

The output format. A normal text-to-image model hands you a pixel bitmap: it blurs when scaled and changing one colour means regenerating. A vector model hands you SVG, where shapes are separate editable elements, scaling is lossless, and recolouring or deleting elements happens in a vector editor. Ideogram frames it as getting the code behind the design, so both people and agents can make precise edits. See https://ideogram.ai/models/vector/

How do the API and pricing work?

Two documented endpoints: POST /v2/svg/generate/ideogram-vector-1 for text-to-vector and POST /v2/svg/vectorize/ideogram-vector-1 for image-to-vector. Pricing is per SVG — text-to-vector costs $0.13 on the low tier, $0.16 medium and $0.20 high ($0.32 for high with reference images), while image-to-vector is $0.10 per image. Docs: https://developer.ideogram.ai/v2/api-reference/vectors/generate-svg

Will the lettering come out correctly spelled?

Text rendering is Ideogram's long-standing strength and the official launch leans on it, from wordmarks to hand lettering to labels. But models still slip on long strings and unusual spellings, and in a vector file mistakes are harder to hide because shapes are separate. The practical move is to proofread character by character and hand-fix nodes on anything that matters.

What is it actually good for?

Ideogram lists logos, icons, illustrations, stickers, print and merch, and labels — work that needs lossless scaling or later recolouring. Conversely, if what you need is photographic realism or complex lighting and atmosphere, a vector model is the wrong tool; that is bitmap model territory.

Where besides Ideogram can I use it?

Ideogram says it is live in Ideogram itself, in the API, and on partner platforms; third-party coverage notes fal hosting it the same day. Treat the official page as the source of truth for the partner list: https://ideogram.ai/models/vector/
