Meta Social Technologies MCP: Let Your Coding Agent Create the App

On 26 October 2026 Meta added six tools to its Social Technologies MCP server, all aimed at standing an app up from scratch: create the app, find or create a Business Portfolio, link the two, list available use cases and add one, without bouncing between your editor and the App Dashboard

Tool Interface

Interactive tool will be available soon

Features

  • ✓ The six tools do one job: set an app up, deliberately separated from the earlier tools that inspect and debug existing integrations
  • ✓ Full chain coverage: create an app, find an existing Business Portfolio or create one, link them, list the use cases the linked app can take, then add a use case
  • ✓ The official docs are explicit that these tools set an app up rather than inspect one that already exists
  • ✓ Creating apps and portfolios, linking and adding use cases are all writes, so confirm the target account and portfolio before the agent runs
  • ✓ Part of the same family as the Ads MCP and WhatsApp Business Tools MCP, so you can chain app setup into ad or messaging work

How to Use

  1. Connect the Social Technologies MCP to your MCP client following developers.facebook.com/documentation/mcp
  2. Authorise with your Meta developer account and check the agent has the right business asset scopes
  3. Have the agent create the app and attach the target use case, such as WhatsApp Business messaging
  4. Verify in the App Dashboard that the app, the portfolio and the use case all landed as expected

FAQ

When did this ship?

26 October 2026. Official blog post: https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2026/10/26/new-on-social-technologies-mcp and docs at https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/mcp/devtools-mcp .

What exactly do the six tools do?

Per Meta's blog: create a new app, find an existing Business Portfolio, create one if you do not have the right one, link the app to the portfolio, list the use cases available to the linked app, and add a use case.

How does this relate to the earlier Social Technologies MCP?

Same server, more tools. The earlier release leaned on exploring and debugging existing integrations; these six cover the setup path that used to force you out of the editor and into the App Dashboard.

Can it wreck my developer account?

It can write. Creating apps and business portfolios, linking them and adding use cases all change state, so check the target account and portfolio beforehand and verify the result in the App Dashboard afterwards rather than trusting the agent's own success message.

Which clients are supported?

Meta documents the connection options and server list on its MCP docs site. Check the official pages for client support and endpoint details instead of copying a third-party tutorial.
