Notion Agents Rebuilt: 24-Hour Tasks and the Auto Router

Notion rebuilt Notion AI on 19 October 2026: agents now have their own computer and browser and can work on a task for up to 24 hours, a new Auto router is claimed to deliver results similar to Opus 5.5 and Astra on 20+ common tasks at about 90% lower average cost, ChatGPT Plus/Pro/Go plans can be connected to the personal agent, and all AI usage moves under a new credit system

Tool Interface

Interactive tool will be available soon

Features

  • ✓ Agents get their own computer and browser, working up to 24 hours instead of minutes, and chats load up to 50% faster on mobile
  • ✓ Auto matches each task to a model and, per Notion, delivers results similar to Opus 5.5 and Astra across 20+ common tasks at about 90% lower average cost
  • ✓ Connect a ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plan to your personal Notion Agent; Enterprise can request BYOK, currently in private alpha
  • ✓ The admin console shows usage by person, feature and agent, with spending limits, alerts and model controls
  • ✓ Notion MCP now syncs memory, with skills via MCP coming, so outside agents can treat Notion as a shared brain

How to Use

  1. Break long tasks into verifiable milestones first — 24 hours is not a licence to walk away
  2. Turn on Review for me so the agent runs safety checks before key actions
  3. Set spending limits and alerts in the admin console and review usage by person and feature
  4. Connect a ChatGPT plan if you need outside models, or apply for BYOK in private alpha on Enterprise

FAQ

When did this ship?

19 October 2026, in the release post 'Agents, rebuilt to do more for less'. Source: https://www.notion.com/releases/2026-10-19

Is the 90% saving real?

The exact wording is that across 20+ common tasks, Auto delivered results similar to Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost. That is an average over a specific task set, not a universal claim.

How are 24-hour tasks billed?

All AI usage now goes through a new credit system with a default monthly allowance per seat and credits charged beyond it. Check Notion's blog and pricing page for exact allowances and migration dates.

Is BYOK available now?

Notion says BYOK is now in private alpha for Enterprise accounts, so it is a limited test rather than general availability.

What changes for everyday users?

Two visible things: faster chat loading, up to 50% faster on mobile, and the option to connect an existing ChatGPT plan to your personal agent. Heavy users should watch credit usage now that everything is metered in one place.
