Features
- ✓ WorkBuddy connects to the messaging apps and enterprise systems you already use, so teams complete tasks inside existing tools instead of adopting another interface
- ✓ Pick a model per task: Tencent Cloud TokenHub gives one API for Hy models and leading third-party models with access, usage, governance and billing managed in one place
- ✓ Hy4 is due for general release with stronger long-horizon and real-world productivity performance, better reasoning efficiency, and visual understanding for the first time
- ✓ Hy4 Flash is the cost-effective sibling, carrying over Hy4 visual understanding and agentic capabilities for high-volume work
- ✓ Built-in security controls support enterprise use, and in China Buddy One lets WorkBuddy coordinate tasks across Tencent office apps and specialised business agents
How to Use
- Pick one cross-system routine your team repeats weekly — a status roll-up or approval chasing, for instance — as the first pilot
- Connect WorkBuddy to your existing messaging and enterprise systems and launch tasks from where you already work rather than a new app
- Route by task type: complex long-horizon work to Hy4, high-frequency light tasks to Hy4 Flash, with TokenHub giving one view of usage and cost
- Align permission boundaries and audit logs first and put human approval in front of consequential actions; accept the pilot on a real multi-step workflow, not a benchmark score
FAQ
How large is WorkBuddy today?
Per Tencent's 29 October release: since launching in March, WorkBuddy has handled over nine billion task requests, with adoption spanning more than 50 industries and reaching half of China's top 500 enterprises, backed by 50,000+ developers and partners and 200,000+ skills. These are vendor numbers, useful for gauging maturity, though active users and retention were not disclosed. What does Hy4 improve over the current generation?
Tencent's wording centres on three things: stronger performance on long-horizon and real-world productivity tasks, improved reasoning efficiency, and visual understanding for the first time — plus Hy4 Flash as a cost-effective model carrying over that visual understanding and the agentic capabilities. Note this was framed as previewing the upcoming general release, so at the time of writing it is not fully available. Check the GA announcement for final capability claims and pricing
What is TokenHub for?
Officially a unified platform with a single API: enterprises access Hy models alongside leading third-party models, choose by performance and cost, and manage access, usage, governance and billing in one place. For teams already juggling multiple clouds and models, the value is operational and compliance consistency — no separate auth and billing stack per model
What about data security and compliance?
Tencent says WorkBuddy ships with built-in security controls for enterprise use and preserves permission boundaries when connecting to enterprise systems, but public materials do not detail encryption, data residency regions or audit interfaces. For sensitive workloads, ask at minimum three questions: where task data flows and how long it is retained, how granular the agent's permissions are when calling internal systems, and whether audit logs can be exported into your own SIEM
Can companies outside China use it?
Internationalisation is an explicit theme: WorkBuddy is being expanded for international enterprises, and CodeBuddy, WorkBuddy, Miora, the Agent Development Platform, MAGIC AI and Agent Runtime have launched internationally so Chinese and global teams share one AI workbench. Tencent Cloud serves more than 150 countries and regions and expanded infrastructure in 2026 across Frankfurt, Osaka, Riyadh, Malaysia, Mexico and Thailand. Availability in your specific region still depends on the local site
