FAQ7 questions
What is the Percentage Change Calculator?

An online math tool. Input: an initial value and a final value. Output: the percentage change, absolute difference, and new value, with increase/decrease reverse modes. Use it for stock moves, price changes, and sales growth.

How do you calculate percentage change?

Formula: (Final - Initial) ÷ Initial × 100%. For example, going from 100 to 150 is (150-100)÷100×100% = 50%.

What is the difference between percentage change and percentage points?

Percentage change is relative to the initial value, while percentage points are an absolute difference. If a rate goes from 5% to 10%, that is a 100% change but only a 5 percentage-point difference.

What if the initial value is zero?

Percent change is undefined when the initial value is zero (division by zero). Use the absolute difference instead.

Does it support negative values?

Yes. The tool handles negative initial values correctly and uses the absolute value as the base for percentage calculations.

How accurate is the calculator?

It uses IEEE 754 double-precision arithmetic and rounds to 10 decimal places — plenty of precision for daily use.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything runs locally in your browser and no data is ever uploaded.
